There was some talk recently about Fairy Wrens. I think that this is another taken if my memory serves me correctly with the Nikor 80-200D f4.5 5.6

Subject nice and crisp. The FG OOF items are a bit distracting and the BG is a bit busy. Apart from that, a nice capture of a nice bird.

Kipper I agree fully with your comments. I took about twenty shots as the birds were moving around so quickly, and this was the sharpest.
I would love to tidy up the background etc, if only I knew how

Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about the BG. I was trying to shoot wrens when they hop around on the ground but find it doesn't make for the most pleasing of shots (can't use DOF to make the BG OOF). Although I haven't nailed a really really decent closeup of a wren yet (I will eventually), I find it's best to watch their habits. I found that a family of wrens would fly out of the trees, perch on barbwire or a pole, then proceed to feed in the field. Occasionally returning to the perches. When ever danger came they'd fly to the safety of the trees. They'd repeat this proceed over and over. So just watch them, find where they perch and setup a shot for the perch that they use.
