Thought i'd share a zoo image with you. Any thoughts?

That's different and different is good! You have picked up some nice texture in the rock and a great pose from the bear.

Is this a black bear? We have oodles of them here in the summer. I'm serious, they're wandering the streets, getting into people's kitchens, storming grocery stores... I was sipping a drink in Whistler and there was a tree by a window and this family of bear climbed down the tree and started running around confused. Tourists were cornering it and taking pictures from their cars. It was awful. 20 minutes later I saw the conservation officer firing these explosive flares at one running through some woods. If you want to see more of these, you need look no further than this little area come August or so.
They had to kill like 15 in Squamish last year alone... BTW great pic...sorry for wrecking it with the above post.

Nice image, maybe a horizontal crop just above the bears head and half way down the nobbly bit on the right. I reckon that will give more emphasis on the bear as the subject.

Great pose Jon, how much did you pay the bear to get that expression? This is definitely another one of those "caption needed" images, we had one of a monkey last week, or was it a sloth or some other critter??? I can't for the life of me remember which animal it was but it was hilarious.

Nice pic Jon but I do think it needs a serious crop. Too much foreground and not enough bear for me.
I can back Dooda up as I spent 6 months in Whistler and they are there a plenty. My first sighting was from my lodge whilst on washing up duties. Whilst scouring a pot I saw something move through the kitchen window. I shouted BEAR! and in a few seconds everyone staying in the lodge was in the kitchen watching with me. She came up onto the road and two cubs followed. I'll never forget it. They then proceeded to our front door and garbage bins where a feast took place for about 20mins. A wonderful experience for an Aussie.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think it's a sun bear, definately got a big golden patch on their chests, doesn't really show in this shot.

I thought about cropping a bit closer, and I also have a shot with just the bear, but I liked the hole in the rock balancing the darkness of the bear, so left it alone.

I've also been playing with the image to try an emphasis the shadow of the cage netting, to try and present the bear like a convict with the shadows of the bars.

Love the pose and the shadows of the "chain wire" prison... Getting the right pose and expression is always the part that takes the time... It was well worth it...
