Sydney Airport today (YAFS territory!)

Was absolutely knackered after a hard week at uni, so I left early today to go home and grab a bit of kip. On the way home though I remembered leek's shots from the airport (yesterday?), and thought I'd have a go. Here's some of the results (click on the thumbnail).
Image
1/400 f/7.1 ISO200 Nikkor AF-D 80-200 2.8 1-touch

Image
1/8 f/10 ISO200 Sigma 12-24 on Feisol 3401 + Man 488RC2

Image
30 s f/22 ISO200 Nikkor AF-D 80-200 2.8 1-touch on Feisol 3401 + Man 488RC2

Hope you like them, any critiques?

Yep that was the spot that I took my photos from...

That fence structure is a little distracting on the 1st one...

I love that old control tower - it's a shame that it's not open to the public...

I like the 3rd one... you must have waited until sun-down to take that one... :-) More patience than I have...

Hi Trent,
Like the last one the best, mainly cos it's different. Was it taking off or landing? I assume (don't know why exactly!?!) it was taking off!? :)

Thanks guys!

John: Yeah, the fence detracts a bit, and I'm not entirely happy with the sharpness either. I liked the water and the plane though. Wouldn't have minded the 80-400 VR for the extra length too. ;)

Yup, I waited till sunset for the last one, turned out pretty well I think! Geoff, it was landing, leaving it pretty fine if it's only taking off at that stage! :D I love the 'ticker tape' effect that the flashing wing lights give.

I am happy to see that you are putting the 80 - 200 f2.8 one-touch to good use. I like the 3rd picture - in particularly because you had used a long exposure (though it was still daytime) to very good effect. The tapering effect is excellent.

regards,

Arthur

If it wasn't for that annoying plane coming in to land, that third shot would have been a nice evening pic of my work! Next time try to get it between planes!
:? :? :?

I like the control tower one - pity about the rubbish bins though eh!

Trent, the last one is a really novel approach not usually seen. I like it

Nice shots. Where is YAFS? Can't find it on any of the ICAO lists I have.

It stands for Yet Another ... Sunset.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, really appreciate it! My composition still leaves a bit to be desired, but everytime I shoot, I learn. Will have to head back down to the airport another day and have another go, it's a great spot!
