How close can you get?

Sorting through a few showjumping photos. This one came to hand and made me think of "decisive moments". Not really good enough for the comp but I sortoff like it anyway. You can tell by the height of the bar on the jumping wings that this is a pretty high jump. This was taken a few months ago. And no, I can't remember whether the horse cleared the jump or not. :D :D :D. Hope I've got this embedded image stuff worked out.

I'll leave an embarrassed e_con if I stuff it up :!:

Hi Shakey!
I like the action you have captured, particularly just as the horse's hoof is hitting the pole (at least it looks like it is hitting it). I would love to see a front view. Do you jump yourself? It looks quite scarey!

Are you crazy? I don't want to end up like Christopher Reeve. No my daughter is the jumper....shudder...

Here's the same horse and rider (not my daughter) at a front angled shot. Different jump but about the same height as the first jump. Yep its scarey

Shakey, that first one is really good, excellent detail, these action shots are hard to get framed right because everything happens so, well, fast! Max

Love the first pic and very nice to see the rider giving her mount a bit of loose rein over the jump as well.

LOL. Used the "damned by faint praise" 28-200G at 200mm, 1/500 5.6 hand held ISO 1000. Probably had it on auto ISO as well ':D'

looks like I can't justify the 80-400 VR just yet ':)'
