These are a few photos I took from yesterday's GOR trip.

hmmm.... not sure if this one worked or not. I tried taking a photo of the backlit scene...

Alex, Nice shots and sounds like you enjoyed the trip i too like the last one and also think maybe if you had stayed that bit longer for the sun to just sink below that it would be just as nice without being blown, but great to see oneday i will make the trip over the border and see these beauties.

Yes, the sunset was the last point for us to stop and I agree I should have stayed longer But the pressure was to go back, we had a long drive ahead of us with going to work the next morning.

Those were yesterday, where are today?

Today's my time was paid for by my employer No time to take photos, unfortunately

Alex, I actually love that one with the blown highlight, great atmosphere. If you shot it at 200ISO, it might also be possible to reduce the highlight by reducing exposure in your RAW converter before bringing up details in the shadows in Photoshop CS (shadow/highlight command).

Anyway, it's one of shot where technical aspects are secondary...

Thats ok Alex i am much the same here even though a truck driver i dont like traveling at nite around here and Western Vic in my car as for them big grasshoppers that tend to make a B-Line for ones car at times. In a truck no problems but yeh i value my bom and yeh like to get home before they start to get on the hop as here we are surrounded by pines and so on.

I shot a few exposures of this last one. This one came out better than others. Others had less blown highlights but the prespective didn't seem right. I shot them all at ISO 200. I then decreased EV and used D-lighting in NC to balance highlights/ shadows. (Probably analgous to what you are saying re PS command?). Thanks for the tips. I'm very weak in PPing, I play it by ear at the moment.

I found A1 going back from Colac to Geelong a bit unpleasant at night. Very narrow.

Being a truck driver is probably great to combine with photography. I can imagine all the weired things you can witness in your travels which probably provide for a vast variety of photo ops.

Great photos Alex, but in the 4th photo, the apostles are a bit too yellow for me. Maybe bump the saturation down a bit and pump up the blue to bring out the sea and sky.

Great set of pics. I last did GOR in the mid 70's. I need to get back there again. Your pics and those previosuly posted by Deano (I think) mean I have to find the time sooner, rather than later. It's a magic stretch of coastline. I like the third & last ones best.
