Any critique, suggestion, help would be greatly appreciated from everyone.

The following shots were both taken with the kit lens, between a friends church service and wedding reception from around Glebe.

I like the 1st image.

The 2nd image is nice but it seems a tad too dark in the foreground and needs more details in the dark bits.

Both photos have loads of potential.

The first one's inconsistant light doesn't help the image. Obviously there isn't much you can do about that, and you've composed well. The vine on the fence in the foreground isn't really working for me though.

The second one is dominated by the reflected light from the building in the city. If that's what you were going for then you succeeded. However the strength of the photo in my opinion looks to be that bridge with it's wires etc leading us into that city. Perhaps find an angle that allows us a clear unobstructed view of the bridge leading into the city (it disappears behind the palm tree), and watch your exposure, as it is a tad dark.

I prefer the 1st image, the second one is distracted significantly by that reflection, without the reflection and a bit more contrast and exposure I think it'd be a really beautiful shot.

Nice to see you using the light. It always sets the mood.

Thanks for the viewing and suggestions. I am learning PP in NC and PS and tweaked both images.

dooda, thanks for the suggestion re: capturing the whole bridge...also I couldn't get rid off the light reflection off the building. Is there something I can to in Photo Shop to tame it a little?

Geoff, I'll play around a bit more with the contrast in PS....

it's fun learning PS, and I'm enjoying PS2 (except for bridge) lots...I had a go at trying to tame your reflection a little with no luck..having said that I spent about 2 mins trying a few ideas, mainly selecting it with the lasoo tool and then changing exposure, but (and others please correct me if I'm wrong) - this is a true highlight and I'm not sure that there's really anything you can do to 'fix' it. On the other hand, this is all very subjective, some people like the bright reflection on this building in the middle, and some think it detracts from a great shot. Is there a right answer? No, not really. That's one of the things I love most about this forum, people are open and honest about how they 'rate' and view a photo and the author accepts that there is no real right or wrong...keep up with the great work and submit some more . We're all here to learn.

Geoff, I got dodgy results as well in trying to tame the reflection. Few people at work saw the photo and actually commented positively on it, so I thought I'd throw it on the forum for futher critique.

Do you have a CPL ?

I suspect that one may have been able to assist here, although to what extent, I don't know.
