A few more from my photo walk the other night. For this one I sat and waited, took three pics of it whizzing past and this one had a nice green color to it. I boosted the color and brightness of the lights in the train and darkened the sky somewhat. I think I should darken that sign too come to think of it.



I knew this one had potential but couldn't find it for a long time. I finally added a adj layer Channel mixer, clicked monotone, boosted the green and blue, pulled back the red and adjusted the overall brightness until I got just a little bit of his shirt detail.



Thoughts and critique are welcome. It really was a productive walk. I've downloaded a slew of new ones and they are pretty good for the most part.

Dave in the first shot I would leave it as is as you have captured the moment decisively.

The second shot is fantastic - just a small comment on the the bottom right hand finger - it seems to be blown and does not balance with the rest of the image IMO.

I think both shots are great!

I particularly like the ominous looking sky in the first one.

What process did you use to get the B&W, very punchy indeed.

No, that's the first time I noticed that Mic. Too bad, it was close I think, but I have no more of the picture. I cropped too much in camera. I guess it's a good idea to leave a little room just in case.

The more I see that train photo the more I like it. I think I'll print that one and use it. It will go nicely in the green room (2nd room we just painted).

These are both great, but the B & W is just a tad in front. You've done some beautiful B & W lately. I look forward to more of such quality.

I too like the B&W better, but they shouldn't really be compared...

I'd be interested to know what the person was doing??? I can see some Asian symbols in the shot, but can't quite make out what he's working on...

I like both images great deal. Blown highlights in the 2nd don't bother me whatsoever.

MIC .... and all...have you tried doing B&W using the RAW processer........ along with levels, this should give you more control over your image, if you shoot in RAW..... give it a go...

I'm a big fan of the B&W photo...pity you dont have more of the photo to work with as to avoid such a tight crop. I love how you have captured the well worn fingers.

By setting saturation to minus 100 then change to CALIBRATE, use the sliders here to get the result that you require, the sliders operate as if there was color, but in black and white, this method gives very fine control over your image. Then you can use levels if you need to. Have fun

This was a tricky one to get finally.

I boosted the green and blue saturations a lot, brought the red down a tad in adj layers, but now I'm going to do it in the Raw plugin. Then I almost always add a Hue Saturation Adj layer and add just a tough of color. Hit colorize on the box and move the top to sliders to tast. Generally for me somewhere between 8 and 40 on the Hue, and 5-15 on the saturation. For the most I don't like to make the color too obvious. Thanks for the comments. I too don't mind the slightly blown hand (although it isn't lost, just blown when I brought the overall brightness slider up to bring in a bit of detail in his shirt), it's the cropped left had that bothers me though.
