I was recently at the National Botanical Gardens... unfortunately a lot of pictures weren't too good because the DOF on macro is hard to get right hand held... and they wouldn't let me use a tripod because it was a weekend ... but some of the out of focus shots turned out, rather nicely. Here is one of my favorites from the entire day actually:



There isn't really too much is in focus, just some of the stamens and pedals. The one right in front is a little blown, but I really like the image.... it has a sort of ethereal feel to it, like it's not quite there. Let me know what you think!

Like to colors alot. Although not all that sharp as you mentioned, it lends to a dreamy quality. Would love to get a macro lens!

I really like the shallow depth of field but I think it would be perfect if you could get the flower on the right hand side sharp. BTW Which macro lense did you use and what aperture.

105mm Micro-Nikkor @ f/3.5 I believe. I am not sure how reliable iPhoto is, and Nikon Capture won't install on my computer for some reason, so I cannot get the RAW EXIF data.
