More from THE DARK SIDE

I darkened the buildings and lightened the foreground of this one to give it more of a creepy empty feel, like the buildings are watching you. The one bright light is like an eye. This was shot at iso 1600. Pretty good control of grain if you ask me. Handheld at 1/8.

This is another of an alley. I quite like it, although some may find it a bit boring. I had fun with the saturation sliders in BW. I always add a touch of color as I tend to like subtle sepia. Also at ISO 1600. I find it quite usable. hand held at 1/15.

Comments and critique are welcome.
I'm really turning into a black and white photographer. Not sure if that's a good thing or not, because when I see some people's color stuff I think that I maybe should follow suite, but I find it so seducing.

That's cool!

But I don't understand how you aren't getting noise at ISO1600. I ALWAYS get it! Even at ISO1000.

Minimizing noise is all about getting the correct exposure. It sort of depends also on how much PP you do, including brightening, which really brings out the noise. I didn't have to do a lot of changes with these, and processing in Raw helps as well I think. I couldn't convert to BW in jpeg as the results were unacceptable.

The noise is in this pic but you don't notice it too badly.
Thanks for the comments.

Dave. Stick with B & W these are (nearly) as awesome of the previous B & W's from your street walk. Anyone can do colour
