Whistling Kite

These guys were everywhere yesterday. I used a bit of fill flash to bring out the detail underneath. I can't remember the last time i used any other lens aside from the 80-400VR. I think I've had my moneys worth. :)

Thanks. :) This was about a 20% crop and it was at the full 400MM. I can't remember how close this one was. Maybe they got as close as 10 metres away at times when they were flying past.

That's an awesome shot Nicole. 80-400VR is definitely on my wish list but still a fair way off... :cry:

For raptors the 70-200VR with TC is great (at full length it's sometimes too close) as is the 80-400VR. At other times it's too short for some species when they're perched and a 500-600MM with TC is what is required.

That is a great shot Nicole :D I have the same lens but haven't been able to produce anything like that yet.

That's a tough shot with the 80-400 & d70, Nicole. You did very well, IMO. :D
