Interesting mix, Matt.
My favorites are 5188 and 5211. Some dust bunnies in there though.

Sorry I couldn't join you guys up there on the Sunday, I decided to spend some time with the Minister of War and Finance instead
(well, not really the latter, yet anyway, hey Birdy
).

We had ton of funs on Saturday and Sunday in Boat Harbour, Nelson Bay weather wasn't good but lot of things to capture, especially the pelicans and surrounded beaches.
Just do the "recon" job for the future meet upthere, found lot of interesting sites and subjects.
Finally seen whales in the Bay yesterday all day.
Thanks Matt.K, Joet, Pippin88 and their partners.

you have a good eye for detail, i like the first 2 and most of your abstract shots. Newcastle looks post apocalyptic but utterly charming
COOL!

Had a fabulous time at Nelson Bay and am still processing pictures. Hope to post more tomorow. Love your spot near the beach and thanks for your hospitality! Stubbsy and Pippin got some great shots but I suspect no "decisive moment" as yet. Great food, wine and company as usual...and stuff to photograph everywhere. Still trying to process that damned blue-ringed octopus and almost there. Peter...good wine seems to accompany you everywhere. You spoil us all!

Matt, I like #3 and 5, only in #3 i think maybe you could straighten the horizon, looks a bit weired and the boats are going up hill.
Cheers

Great stuff Matt.
I like the first photo (
http://www.pbase.com/matt_k/image/44739449) a lot and the train photo (
http://www.pbase.com/matt_k/image/44739449).
The more I look at the train photo I like it. Some may say it's a bit dark but if you look at how it blends into the pbase black background, the bright/light cutout patches have a very abstract feel to it.

Another eclectic and interesting batch of shots from you - and not a flower in sight
You've captured some great shots of my home town. Maybe I need to go out and do a recon myself!
I like the one of the train. While I know it's standing still it has an amazing feeling of motion thanks to the angle of the shot.
I also like
the canoe pool,
the covered scaffolding and
seagulls on the canoe pool, but like Phillip
5188 is my favourite - the lighting on the waves is just superb.
The shot of the
Ocean Baths looks to have a slight colour cast to me (blue/green).
birddog - where are the whale photos?

Sure was great despite the weather and Mr & Mrs birddog were great hosts as usual. Didn't get a single good shot of the octopus - hope you have better luck.

You are right about the colour cast. Goes to show the folly of P-Processing when you're tired.

Great pics. I also like the first pic and the one of the pool. Brings back memories. Had a few trips to Nelson Bay when we were kids.

If the last time you were at Nelson Bay was when you were a kid you wouldn't recognise it now.

One thing I remember is going out on the yellow submarine. I think I was about 7 or something. It must be all developed by now.

Ben,
Intented to but weather wasn't in our favour so we just went to Nelson bay and other surrounded areas, ended up at Boat Harbour, enjoyed some good reds and companies.
Perhaps next trip near.
