Sensational! Macros of this calibre are tricky and very hard to come by. Print it at A3 at Birddogs on the 2100 and get it framed.

What was your setup for the shot?

Focus
Imagine how you look to it? Big, and full of fluid.

Flyer, great shot. I can imagine there was a lot of waiting to get that shot. The eyes (is that the correct term?) look great. What is your setup?

WOW! I have been experimenting with the 70-300G lens but the clarity of this is astounding. Exceptional photo.

Thanks guys.
Still learning.
My setup is same as before:
Image

Sigma 105 EX + reversed Nikkor 50mm f1.4 + SB800 hand held.
Would love to use tripod, but it's just not practical for flies.

Glen - you are correct. Waiting,waiting,waiting...
I found couple of spots where few flies seem to gather (a small rock in this case) & just wait for the right time.
Have to move VERY slowly, be aware of the light, etc.
Also the the flash (noise & light) seems to spook them. Especially built in flash in comander mode.
Focus is hard too due to magnification - 2:1 You hvae to move back & forth - 1-2mm at the time!

This picture was also cropped as the fly was very small.
Would love to be able to take pictures like M.Plonsky one day...http://www.mplonsky.com/photo/index.htm
