All those Silly Ugly Vehicles ....

Looks like the LBJ Freeway in Dallas to me. :)

Chicago's on the wrong side of the lake for sunset photos, isn't it? Good use of perspective nontheless.

Thanks, Gary. :D

This was a 6 lane local street on the west side. Yes, this is a sunset and Lake Michigan is east of Chicago. There were 2 spectacular sunsets during the 2 weeks I was there. The day I arrived, where I sat in heavy traffic on a freeway, hopelessly watching the photo op slip away. This shot was taken the next day, not quite as spectacular as the first day, but the purple colors are pretty close to the real thing. Dunno about down under, but this sight is rather rare for my part of the world.

A decent shot, Kerry, but shouldn't a good photographer like yourself be somewhere more picturesque at sunset. :D

I like it for what it is...different. A fresh take on the good old sunset shot. More interesting than some of my more natural setting (yawn) sunsets. Thanks for pposting this one!

Cheers,

Thanks, Steve. :D I would agree, a good photog would prolly be at a more picturesque site for the sunset. As soon as I can find a good photog around here, I'll follow him to see where he goes.

Thanks, Matty. :D I like doing shots like this. But, they're more of an abstract type of shot, which has a more limited audience than typical sunset scenes. :)

Gorgeous colours... :) Nice and different.

It's good to see we are not the only ones being terrorised on the roads by 4WDs and Volvos.....

Thanks for the kind comments, Steve. :D

4WDs are the rage here, probably initially because of gov't intervention in the market, with their stupid fleet gas mileage requirements on the car makers. Now, people buy the minivans and SUVs instead of the family stationwagons of the old days, because of the "cool" factors.

Kerry, great snapshot of urban life. Could see a series here with another shot of a sunset with a more rural flavour, maybe a bait shop by a lake. I like your shot.

Thanks, Glen. :D I'd love to have a series such as you describe. I'll have to do a lot of traveling to find such, though. :(

The burdens we bear for our hobbies, eh ? :)
