Wow, had to look for a few seconds to realise what you were referring to.
I think it must be a distorted reflected image which looks like the duck is looking forwards. The dark stripe along the back edge of the reflection indicate that it's still facing in the same direction. I think the wave elongates and repeats the top of the head's reflection giving the impression of a neck and head (note the white patch shown twice). The "eye" and "beak" are reflective artifacts.
But then again, I could be wrong... :?
Maybe I need more neorologically active substances to partake in.

Hi Julian,

You are close. The "beak" is not a reflection of the beak. The duck's beak is in hidden in the feathers. The elongated "beak" is actually the ripple's reflection of the background. Thus giving the illusion of whie the duck's head is in the opposite direction.

Arthur

That's a brilliant shot! These are the images I like, when you get something unexpected like this which just makes whats already an appealing shot, so much more without having to try.
Cheers, Jase. :D

Thanks Arthur,
That's what I meant about the "beak" and "eye" being artifacts (from the ripples).
A good shot that's made even better by fortuitous reflections.
