Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Hi all,

I was in Melb a couple of weeks ago...playing with my new toy/christmas present to myself...bumped into a fellow D70 shooter who suggested I have a look at this site...(Thanks Mudder...this is a fantastic forum)

I have been a member for a couple of weeks now..and finally have the courage to post a picture. This was taken on a cold afternoon on St Kilda Pier looking at port philip bay/Melb city.

Nice shot, Joe and welcome. Your shot almost makes me homesick, you can almost feel the chill in the air - at least it's not belting down rain like today in Brisbane.

Cheers

Welcom Joe.

I really like the colours in this - it has a suitable cold feel to it without being just grey - sorta like Melbourne really

G'day mate,
Haven't been on lately, so missed your post, glad you could join us :)

Like the image, almost like "a changing of the light" between stages in a day, good choice of location too...

Was that one single shot cropped or multiple joined?

You've got a good Chrissy present, looking forward to more...

Cheers.

Hi Mudder,

thanks for the tip to this site....it is a great forum.
The shot was a single shot with the kit lens....I did crop it to make it look like a panorama.

Saw some of your zoo shots...very nice...here is one of my attempts. Not very good as I had the Tamron 70-300. Not a fast lens so the iso was 800. I put this through a noise reduction program...a bit of sharpening and color adjustment.

G'day Joe,

The Snow Leopard's an awesome creature isn't it? Nice captured
too I might add, Melbourne Zoo? Wonder if it might be worth trying
to crop^H^H^H^H (edit) clone out the branch(?) protruding in the bottom left corner.

Nice and sharp, detailed whiskers and clear eyes, seems nicely
exposed too, it's tricky getting the details in the highlight areas
of fur... Nice shot...
