Hi WW
These are nice shots, my favourite is the second one, although I would probably crop the bottom third off, just at the water's edge. As it is, the orizon is smack in the middle.
The third shot is a nice idea but the object at the bottom is a little too insignificant in the overall photo.
Great skies though.

I like 1 & 2 and would like to see the sky in these two with a little more contrast. Nice clouds.

G'day,

These look great, I'm shocking at critique so just ramblings after a couple of reds

#1, Very nice, great colour, the sky is strong, just needs something in the foreground, really like it though...

#2, Try a crop off the bottom just near where the wet sand starts in the bl corner maybe, or off the top too if you want to make a darker more menacing look maybe ?

#3, Try selecting the sea-weed in the foreground and lightening it a bit in PP to make it stand out more, pic overall looks a bit dark to me (or my monitor)

All these have great skies and great colour, haven't used a polarizer or extra sat in PP?

Blue bottle looked fresh :)

Hey Mudder - thanks for those tips. Will take them on board. Interestingly a few people have now commented on my images being "too dark". They look ok on my monitor. On the darkish side but not horribly so. Is there any way i can tell if my monitor is out? Online calibration or something like that?

the first one is my favourite, did you use a circular polariser on full or burn the sky in post processing?

Hey WW, nice composition in these, yes, agree with Mudder esp in the case of images 2 and 3. They appear well on the dark side for mine. If you get any definitive calibration advise, let us all know - my images never appear the same on any 2 monitors as far as my testing has led me. Good stuff, very clean scenes.

No - I was not using a circ pol on the day. I think (from memory) i uped blue saturation by 7-8 in PS? Moderate unsharp mask. No burning.

G'day,
This might sound like a dumb way and someone more experienced will have a better way, but you could always just put the file on a memory device (USB thing or something) and view it on a few different monitors maybe to get a feel for an average?

Yeah - this is odd. I think i may have the gamma setting up too high for my lap top LCD. It was set at "1.0" (by default). To see your settings go to control pan, display/settings, advanced - colour. Let me know what your setting is because i think the high gamma might be to blame. I think i have been PP'ing them too dark because they looked right on my monitor (which may not have been OK). Greatful if someone could check for me.

G'day,

I thought mine was a smidge dark.... Using a Sony Trinitron 17", not sure on graphics card, but using an Intel 82845G graphics controller diag thingy, mine appear to be Gamma 1.0, Brightness 20, Contrast 46.

As you can tell I'm not all that into PCs

Cheers.
