Today in Newcastle started off as a really filthy day. High winds, rain and big clouds:

Bloody wind was fierce - blowing sand stings.

Comments appreciated.

I've discovered Black and White and high shadow contrast, and now I like a fair number of my shots in both normal flavour, high shadow contrast and / or black and white flavour

Hi Pippin,

it sure reflects the conditions of the day. I was actually just around Nobby's surf club around that time. I had a few minutes in between meetings and I took a few shots. If they come out, I'll post some.

I like the ones of the birds taking off and also the one of the person walking out on the breakwater, he/she looks cold and fighting the wind.

Well done, I wasn't game to have my lens in that type of weather for too long

Cheers,

André

G'day Nick, they're wonderful dark images, photo @2 in the second set (with seagulls etc) is quite an outstanding image and grabbed me straightaway, would like to see a large version posted.

Thanks for all the comments everyone.

I'm quite pleased with these set of shots, I think both my PP and actual photos are improving.

Ozimax - these are just large thumbnails, clicking on them will take you to a larger version. I can supply a larger version than that if you want.
