Went to visit my brother today on the Gold Coast to meet his new dog. Needless to say , 'Tyson' was quite a hit with my youngest daughter, Emily. It was pretty miserable and overcast at the time and it's really just a snap shot but I'd appreciate any comments.

I'd be very happy with it Simon... Nice natural pose, good subjects...

I'm not sure if you cropped the original, but if so, I wouldn't mind seeing a version that included Emily's elbow and other hand and maybe offset her to the left of the frame??? Just a thought that might improve it...

Very nice. :)

Perhaps when you try the crop that leek mentioned you could also try and take out the purple on her shirt as well. Just an idea, never the less its still a great picture.

Nice simple photo Manta :) The colour tone looks nice and natural.

At first I didn't mind the elbow being cropped out, but now the more I look at it, I'd like to see what it would look like with the elbow :D

Thanks all for your comments and advice.

I'd love to indulge you all, and me, by including Emily's missing elbow but the shot wasn't cropped at all. This is the original image. I'm not normally one to amputate body parts but I dropped the ball on this one. I was more concerned with getting a nice expression on the pup and, in doing so, neglected the basic composition. Shame on me.

Don't be too harsh on yourself - it's still a great portrait... It was merely a suggestion to play with if you had anything in reserve...

No worries John - I certainly took your comment in the spirit it was given :D and I know it would have been a nicer shot if I hadn't closed up on them so much. I'm still very happy with the way it turned out.
