Those are some great captures! Love the reflection in the last one.

Ambrose's car looks like a toy car ;)

Well done for posting so soon atorie! I really like the hammock, but I'm glad you explained what it was, I would have been guessing for years. You've taken some excellent first shots...keep them coming!!

Having experienced sunrise on the GOR many times, #2 is quite lovely. Brings back some good memories and the capture is spot on. Impressive saturation. I think your first post kicks arse. Post more!

Atorie - another person to show the merits of the much maligned 70-300 G Nikkor. Being a great enthusiast of Sigma lenses, your 12-24mm shots show exactly how this lens, and of course yourself, sings :D

Love the GOR Shot. Perfect IMO.

The byron lighthouse should be straight (I think anyhow). I took a copy into photoshop and had a quick play. To me it packs more punch with a (auto) levels adjustment and a smart sharpen. The top of the lighthouse acutally looks out of focus until the smart sharpen is run over it.

The Hammock had me confused also, nice work :) Nice DoF and angles.

Great shots. You have a good eye. My minor suggestions. 1st shot. a little more sense of movement is needed...either more blur in the wheels, another car or two in the frame, or some blurred stationary track side object to show that the shot has been panned. Also making the trackside grass more green than straw coloured (I know I know ...there's a drought but photoshop can help). Last shot I'd crop some of the bottom off, so there is still reflections but not of all of it (rule of thirds etc). Love the hammock shot and the lighting of the BB shot

The sunset over Dam is sensational ... and GOR is nice too, something odd about the white balance, but may have been the effect youre after, either way its moody.

The motorsport one I find uninteresting, probably because its done to death day in day out ... the lighthouse one looks a bit soft, the hammock is nice (would make a good stock image perhaps.) ... the paddy melon is a bit ho-hum ... try throwing some food at him to get him to look at you or something :) (i could tell you a story about some pelicans ...)

dont worry about size ... people without broadband these days ought to suffer the consequences ! :)

The GOR, dam and hammock shots jump out at me. They all make wonderful use of colour. Excellent first image post.

Thank you all for your compliments and critique...

For those who said the Byron Bay Light House was soft you are correct.. i shot that photo about 12 hours after I brought my D70... I could sharpen in PP but to me it's a little sentimental... I have some sunrise pics taken the morning after which are sharper.. I'll post them here in time.

The Sunrise on the GOR was a difficult capture for me... I really wanted to have the road visable in the frame but without over exposing the sunrise... after a few attempts I think i captured the mood.

The first shot was taken right after I brought the 70-300mm G, The V8's race at the QLD raceway was a good place to learn... I did have a number of shots taken at a slower shutter to blur the wheels but light was a big problem that day. There was a big storm brewing with clouds all over the shop... and as far as the grass/staw is concerned... Its the QLD300 no-one would believe me if the grass was green... but thanks for your critique shakey. :)

Thanks again

Atorie (Michael)
