Hehehe. Yeah, agreed about the missing tail. Kinda annoyed me somewhat as the couple I had of that particular car that were all in frame had camera-shake.

That was my problem all day. I either got the panning right and chopped half the car off, or else I had the whole car and the picture was blurred
I just still liked this one, even if it was a little shortened. I'll see if I can find some other ones that are sharp and not chopped

BBJ - how do you manage to pan at 1/125 and avoid camera shake on a 200 or 400mm lens??

Actually, here's a question for you guys. Do you normally leave yourself some room to crop into around the vehicle, or do you normally frame in camera??

With moving objects I thing it is better to leave some room for cropping........ but when shooting objects that do not move and you have more time, crop in camera a bit more with final decision made when pp......

Robboh, nice shot of the Jag, I think it works well because the whole car is in the picture, nice panning to blur the background and provide a sense of speed, the car is sharp and importantly there is space in front of the car where it is going. Nice shot.

Eunosdriver, nice shot, looks somewhat like a summer sunday drive with the green background, top down and T-shirt on

Great shot of the jag AND Mazda. True a little bit of a pity about the tail.

Agree with what has been said for stand-alone pics, but in a magazine the top one could be cropped to suit.

I think those shots are buried ina teachest at the moment Birddy, you made me think I should search for them

Nice shot of the MX5. As for the 'wussie' bit, if you look carefully this guy actually has a cage in his one as well

Thanks Glen. The shot, to me, is technically OK, but its still missing something though. It just 'feels' a bit flat and doesnt jump out and grab you. BBJ's pics, for example, really stand out and I cant quite figure out what it is that makes this happen.

Part of it's just the visual impact of the colour. Most of the bikes are very colourful whereas the Jag is pretty dull. I think another part of it is that cars, almost side-on, dont fit the 2:3 ratio very well and so to get a frame filling image, you end up chopping part of the car off (like the Mazda). If you fit the car in, you end up with a lot of background and foreground clutter.

Possibly I need to get higher or lower and use that to try and fill the image more. Or else get the car more at an angle so that its shorter in comparison to its height. Thats also a bit hard to do as the marshalls are fairly restrictive as to where you can stand in relation to the corners and the corners produce more interesting pics than the straights generally.

Any thoughts??
