Taken at the V8's Supercars today in Darwin

Since everyone has lens lust. I decided to share what I saw. I got no idea what gear they have though.

yeah,

If I made enough dough to pay for and entertain $4.500 and $10000+ or $20.000 lenses; no worries !!!
And I'd also have a kuli to carry them ...

Cheers

Do you envy them? May be not. The load that they have to carry and the kind of pictures they have to produce. When hobby turned into responsibilities minus the fun and excitement.

regards,

Arthur

They're Canon gears, and you can carry like that on your back with the harness and swing around to shoot when you need. The guy on the left hand side wearing the cheapo Lowepro harness, I have the Lowepro vest + harness system wich can help me to carry 4 camera with big zoom lenses above 300 AF-S/ 2.8 and heaps of stuffs.
On other vests I have are not the ordinary one, make and desgined as same as the survival vest for the aircrews, which I can carry two camera bodies and few short lenses with other gears, with the attachment, I can carry the pro-body with 400 AF-S in the back.

Nice setup Birdie, I'm beginning to believe the dream setup is what you have. Hope your mini-meet runs smoothly. Being pretty much Jewish, I won't be able to attend Saturday meets - are there ever Sunday ones?

HB,
Sorry! No Sunday is a worship day for our fellow members after the early pray and mass of Sigma & VR on early Saturday before the mini meet, then a self confessed session which they have to think about the future of the lust.

If only these guys were shooting with Nikon equipment. I reckon that our member Kipper/Darryl would like to borrow the lens on the left on a long term basis, if not eternity.

Heath, there is a night of atonement... the AA dinner.

That's on a Saturday night. :)

And I think you'll be forgiven for forgoing synagogue for one weekend... just practice Chabbash on Friday night with your Nikon sitting next to you... :)

At the risk of proving I'm a gentile  - Is the Sabbath sun down Friday to sun down Saturday - if not, there's a Friday AA dinner. Maybe we Newcastle-ish people need to organise a Sunday get together.

Certainly a dream setup for most of us 'Lens Lust Lemings'.

I'm so jealous of you regular meets. Wish I were there, but then again I'd miss the ol' paradise here in Cairns, not to mention the dint in the SLOWLY growing cash reserve for to accommodate the much faster growing lens lust syndrome.

Here's an idea how about we organise a field trip cum workshop and general jaw session here in Cairns. I'll supply the barbecue and drinks. How's that sound!!

Peter,

Nothing wrong with being a gentile; some of my best gentiles are friends.

:)

And to answer your question, yes.

But to be prefectly frank, if one is online, there is little reason one can't be at the minimeet.

They're both grade 4 trangressions, earning 42 demerit points, except that the points don't matter. :)

Many do, but there's plenty of Nikon photogs at the races too.

Yeah - they do if they want the best :?
Canon makes the sharpest, fastest AF telephoto lenses on the 35mm market.
(sure that comment could get me booted out of this club, but...)
IMAO, Nikon have recently lost the 'eye on ball' !

And i love that Canon (dont they make photocopiers ? lol) make a full frame CCD( the real thing ! 8) ).

ya lost me Atorie .
My remark about Canon being a p'copier maker is meant to suggest that Nikon could/should be the leader in photographic equipment, seeing as they can focus on photography, and that Canon has such a broad vision(pun not intended).

Drool...
Would be nice. But as various posters have commented, this is their job and probably in a lot of cases they dont even own the lenses, the news agencies that they are working for do!!
As for the other comments. Nikons lenses, as far as Im aware, have never been behind (and are usually as good if not better) in terms of actual resolve or sharpness, they just have been behind in terms of things like AFS and VR. However, as far as Im aware, they have pretty much fixed that in all their higher-end lenses.

Fozzie, yes I very much would like :)

And yes, I think all pro-photogs at car events using Canon. Lots of Canon at the F1GP.

True enough, but theres now alot of guys buying old MF/AIS glass to get the sharpness they expected from nikon - without having to pay a few thousand for it .And I wish they'de stop outbidding me damn it!
Canon users have been getting that quality out of their AF lenses.

4.8 35mm/AF Canon EF 200/1,8L USM

4.2 35mm/MF Nikkor 50/1,2
4.2 35mm/AF Canon EF 50/1,8 II

Results from http://www.photodo.com/prod/lens/
(its a compliation of both top 10's)
I realise that the new nikons havent been tested so its not up to date and that MTF testing is subject to debate.
But i think it points out why "Pro's" have/had a penchant for Canon telephotos in recent years.

Note- not a zoom in their midst.

DX glass bothers me too, especially as its the same price as 'full frame' glass! Once you stop these down to get max sharpness and a good dof, youd be using the centre of a lens the size of a 10 c piece or smaller.
Is this Nikons way of maintaining lens quality ?And they want how much for that ? PS - its just a second thought for the next time you get a bad case of nikon LL. works for me !

Nikon do a lot more than just photography, lejazz. :)

Try medical equipment for starters... :)

Agreed. Religious people are mostly like myself even if they don't admit it. Failing constantly. Synagogue's and churches are full of them. Many people hate religion because of this failure. Simply human.

Sabbath starts at Friday sundown, and finishes Saturday sundown.

Gentiles are fun... I have more Gentile friends than christian/jew/catholic/buddhist/hindu/new age/etc.

I'm sure that I'll make it to a meet one of these days. Lucky I don't believe in a vengeful God :D
