1st and 2nd shot are shot in continous mode with shutter Priority at 120-250

The 3rd shot is manual focus at a single point on a track and panned until I reach the marked spot and shoot, shutter is around 200.

Sorry lack of description as I had to recover all my files.
some cars I shoot its not all in focus, and i'm wondering why ? should I be shooting in Aperture priority to get the whole car in focus....

Any comments welcome, I still got all day sunday to take super shots

The lens certainly does give that extra reach, and there are some locations around the track that don't require a telephoto lens, And if I get a good capture it will fill up the whole frame, which i'm yet to do.

Catcha, good shots and the last 1 i like the most, keep them sutter speeds down to get the motion blur in the wheels and job is right. Yes you will get some OOF now and then but yeh practice and i think these are good. Well done.

looks good,
don't restrict yourself to a certain shutter speed, experiment 1/2, 1/15, 1/60.
anything to avoid the "parked car" look, but the parked car look works for crashes thoughs

Good shots catcha. I agree with redline. Whack it shutter proirity and concentrate on the slower speeds and different panning styles and compositions.

Nice pics! Far better than my first attempt the other week. The VR and shorter focal length must make a good difference though, which was one of my motivations behind getting the 70-200VR.

As for 'out of focus', you could be finding that you dont have enough depth of field to make the whole car crisp. Problem is there, of course, that as you up the DOF, you lose shutter speed and your background becomes more 'visible' as its sharper.

robboh yeah I want a 70-200VR now to get better zoom nice to have that extra reach, but the 24-120 is doing the job just fine for now

I agree with the last shot being the best as the speed is indicated by the rims

Funny actually. I was just showing a set of printed out proofs to one of my mates who was racing the day I did my pics and he loved a lot of the pics I hated. I thought that they werent sharp enough or too far away etc.

But from his point of view, he was more interested in how the car looked in the pic (the way it was going round the corner etc) or the fact that both him and one of our other mates were in the pic together.
