Ok after a long day at work, had a big pour on for a new KFC 110 mtrs of concrete, so yeh what better way to wind down is to put camera in hand.LOL

Anyhow this lens you really need to play with it i think apeture wise anyhow. Using anything from 1.8 to say F4 you end up with part of the face out of focus so here is 1 i took awhile at f6.3 as i did try different apeture settings just to see what sort of range would be good for this type shot.
Anyhow had the Lightsphear on bounced of ceiling 1/2 dome, shutter 1/60 +0.3 ex and f6.3.

BP moved him away from background and yeh think it's come up ok. Quick shot oh hand held as well but looks good to me.

Great shot!! Possibly a little further from your son as well would be good (if possible), but both of these portraits you have done so far have been great!! I really like the way the lightsphere is working as well.

If I wanted a cheap and nasty solution to my photographic needs, I would have bought a drebel instead of a D70. So why spend $10 on tupperware when I can blow $100 on a lightsphere

LSII is just around $60 Aussie. so you still have change for something else.

I have two orders on standy, get 7 x LSII like last time will do the job.

Trust me at $60 it's actually cheaper than buying tupperware, my fiance has been to far to many of these party's and came back with the "goods".
It's all good though, means I get to buy toys as well.

Thanks all, it works well i think. The lightsphear is a good peice of plastic and yes like birdy said a bit of tuppoware would go close. I think it something to play with and try different things and see how it turns out.

At $AU60 I'll take one. Put me down for the group buy. I know it's a rip off for a plastic ball, but it takes damm good flash pics... It's only money

Yeh mate you really have to watch that DOF, try take a pic of a face at 1.8 and u will see there ears and chin are all out of focus so yeh good to have a play i think for portrait stuff need to be like f4 to like f8 inbetween somewhere.

Must be getting close to enough hands for another LSII purchase.
My hand is up also (can't afford any real purchases but can manage this one I expect).

I'm sure a piece of tupperware would do the trick but I's probably spend twice the money finding the right one then working out how to fit it

Given the results people seem to be achieving I'm thinking I'd have to accept that this piece of plastic might be worth more than its apparent material cost.

I really like how you've handled the light in the portrait John. Very balanced, natural feel to the exposure.

How does a lightsphere compare with the diffuser that comes with the SB800??

Simon i find the orig Nikon difuser is more harsh than the LS II, thats my findings. I still havent had a lot of play with it as yet but it seems to work ok.

A nice shot of your boy John - freckles look great - also try one from a slightly higher angle as it's better not to look up nostrils.
