Nice Bird Jeff, i would maybe try using shadow and highlights and bring the bird up a bit, but dont take my word as i am not a bird person, or should i say the ones i like to look at dont have feathers.LOL

Hi Jeff, personally I think you might want to give it a crop to put more emphasis on the bird. Some thing like a portrait shot since the rest of the background doesnt add much to the photo.

G'day Jeff,

Maybe a gentle crop to centre the attention on the bird as it tends to seem a little lost to me, be tempted to highlight the eyes if you can in PP, I think you shot RAW so you should be able to play with the exposure a bit just watch out for the highlights along the edges of the bird. Good pose of the bird too...

If you do PP a bit, I'd be tempted to select just the bird then invert and blur the background a smidge to help the viewer focus on your subject maybe.

Oh, also the thread about embedding might help too, took me a couple of goes and the preview facility helps too... http://www.d70users.com/viewtopic.php?t=2789

Cheers.

Nice one Jeff.

Not sure if it's my eyes or my screen or just my head but I swear the reeds are sharper than the bird itself. Could just be an optical illusion though :)

As suggested a tighter crop closer to the bird would help I think. Maybe as a portrait rather than a square image?

Nice shot. I too would have cropped it. I think that the bird is a white faced heron. But the illustration in my newly purchased bird guide doesn't show the chest to be white. Nicole or Kipper, help here please.
