I dragged my ass out of bed for a shoot in Hobart recently.
I quite liked the way this image turned out. Im not 100% sure on the composition. Would you like to see the whole boat or did i get away with cropping out the bow? Feeback appreciated as per usual.

I would like to see the whole boat, the background is not that interesting...

G'day Willy.
Nice colours and good onya for getting out of bed so early! It would have been freezing down there! I think perhaps if you had the whole boat in then it would be an even better picture, but as it is you've captured the scene really nicely. Still got some ripples in the water even at 2 seconds exposure time.

The whole boat...
It was indeed freezing Owen. 4 layers and a beanie.
Glamy - Do you think a busy background would be beneficial to a shot like this? I was kind of hoping the pretty colours would cover it?

Willy
I like the colours and the simple background. We're all different. BUT I'd crop the top off the second one

I like the whole boat, and the star doesn't really work for me either. Too far away.
The busy background takes away a little bit from a very stunning sunrise! The photo still looks very unreal! Awesome!

You need to keep the bow in the image, with some space in front of it so that the boat comes "into" the picture.
As it is now, it's not really telling a story ... half a boat, half a jetty ....
and the star is too far too the top to be a part of the story.
Sorry.

What I meant was that with the boat in the way one could not see much of the background anyway. In the second version, I only saw the star after reading the threads. I would have liked more of the boat and of the background, maybe another angle... Good work all the same.
Cheers,
Gerard

I like the star. The background has a feeling of calm. A bit more boat would be good.
But as a great man once said "a little boat is better than no boat at all"
Good on ya
