Up close and personal at the mini-meet...

Closeup of member rog's scalp using Nikkor 105mm + Hoya diopters stacked to +7 and SB800... F32 @ 1/30s...

Mrs Leek found this picture rather gross...
I just wish I had that many hairs... :D

I'm definitely going to buy myself a set of diopters...

A flea wouldn't have a chance. tthat's a great shot. Oh how white the skin is.

That's not the dog I'm looking for in my post of 5 minutes ago is it? Did he wear a choka chain?

OK... Just to make you feel more sick... here is a 100% crop...

I'm amazed about the translucency of the hairs and that you can see the oil on the hair... Also there is a much thinner fibre in there as well... Must be a man-made fibre...

Hi Rog... sorry to carry out this in depth study of your follicles in public

John - I was watching you take this shot of Roger’s scalp and to me, and I believe others, we were amused by how close you were

But, having seen the results, I am totally gobsmacked with how sharp it is and hence your hand holding capability - fabulous :D

Thanks Chris... I think it's called luck... The flash did the trick I think... If you look closely, you can see quite a bit of hand-shaking going on there's a bit of ghosting in some areas...

Leek

amazing

who knew a set of diopters could assist in such wizardry

dumb question
How do you open a childproof container of Methanol
and where exactly do you place these stacked diopters, on the lens or on the viewfinder eyepiece?

I'll see what I can find. :)

What's more, they were my diopters!

Wendell, these diopters go on the lens, like a filter would. The effect is not unlike that of the diopter in the viewfinder, in that it lets the viewer, be it the eye or the CCD as appropriate, focus more closely. More info here:
http://www.toledo-bend.us/index.shtml?diopter

Mine are a Hoya 49mm +1, +2 and +4 set, with a 52-49mm step down ring.

Cheers,
- Rog
