Hi there.
A trip to a Hydro power station to watch the turbines spin round - Here's a couple of results. Both taken at 27mm f3.8
The first being 1/10 second, the second being 1/500 second with inbuilt flash.

I particularly like the first one. It's a bit green due to the colour temperature of lighting used in the power station. I didn't want to play with the photo for this demonstration so it is as it was.

For those that are interested, the diameter of these things is, well, er, um, taller than me!!

What do you think?

Large hardware like this is always a great subject for photography, isn't it?

Good comparison between the two shots. What might have been interesting would be a third shot, using (say) an SB800 strobed over a half second, with the camera (obviously) tripod mounted for the duration of the exposure.

Or maybe a merge of the two pics - if you used a tripod 8)

Yes the photos were tripod mounted. I love my tripod. It goes everywhere with me and my D70. I don't think the camera was moved between the photos, and they certainly look the same to me.
What do you mean by "a merge of the two pics"? I guess you are talking about a Photoshop trick... I must get around to installing that program!

Re the 3rd photo with SB800 - well, maybe I can sell these photos (and a "few" others) for the price of an SB800 and I will give it a go! Sorry, couldn't - I don't have the appropriate "small hardware".

I do have several other photos from this trip to the power station, fast and slow, different angles etc if anyone is interested.
