This pic also taken at the Hydro power station.
122mm focal length
f 6.3
1/640 second

It is a wooden pipe with a diameter of at least 3 feet / 900mm.
The steel bands are there to hold the pipe together.
Its history can be read here
http://www.hydro.com.au/home/Energy/Tasmanian+Hydro+Electric+Schemes/Catchment+Areas/Other+Stations/

Here's the pic.

Edit - Here's the other pic...

to show just how leaky that pipe was...

If you think it should be added as a pic instead of a url, let me know and I will fix. Enjoy!
Edit - 2nd pic added here instead of as a url.

Adam, that's a classic shot. I took a look at the other picture as well.
My recommendation: post it. It's amazing. No wonder the dams are so low.

I think these are in Tassie; I'm not so sure that ACA would be able to use them; there's no water shortage in that part of the world.

Gary, in Tas we are at a 20 year low in water storage and the Hydro are talking about power restrictions. Just about all our power is hydro based.

There definately is a water shortage down this way!!!
