However (I'm being very picky here) the first one, I can notice the octagonal shaped bokeh in the background. I'm guessing it's a reflection of the 8 aperture blades in the Sigma 105 - I never knew they made them with even number of blades, most Nikkors are odd (7 or 9).

I was surprised myself at the outcome of this exercise.
The whole "shoot" took about 5 mins I think.
Just grabbed the camera, placed the drinking glass in the sink, turned the tap on & started shooting.
Didn't even use the tripod, resting camera on the edge of sink...
Onyx - I noticed the octagonal shaped bokeh as well. After that I examined the lens & the aperture blades seem to align very poorly, especially at wide apertures.
Also the gold stars on the cloth in the background didn't help, reflecting too much light.

Sorry for the late reply.
Shutter was 1/60 sec.
Flash duration was what stopped the drops.
At 1/128th output flash duration is approx. 1/41600 sec!
