KP,
You tried to made me doing the hard job.
Members see these photos and they're after me with the 80-400, which is hard to get atm.
I must admit, you have done a "terrible" nicely pics with this lens, not the lens itself but your skills.

Thanks for the kind comments, Birddie.
If the 80-400 is getting hard to find, I wonder if that means they're getting ready to replace it.

Thanks, Chris!
That's one of my goals, to make a pic out of the water drop. Need more practice and more magnification.
Owen: Thanks for the kind comment!

Kerry you must have super steady hands. I have that lens as well and have been dissapointed when I tried anything like that, even with the VR. Might have to give it another go, great work

The flash and high shutter speeds make a significant difference for being able to hand hold. I also use a monopod at times, which helps a lot too. The VR is always on.
Phillip: Thanks for the compliment.
Never thought of turning it upside down. It'd look like one of those glass bubbles with the snow inside.

This is why I was asking about the 500D a few months ago.. thought the combination would be nice for macro-ish work seeing as I couldn't justify/afford a dedicated Macro..
Some nice shots! Does the dropoff in light affect your shooting that much? I noticed they're ISO 800..

The Canon 500D is AU$200.00, better save up for the real macro lens!

You said that last time. Notice that I haven't bought a lens in a while?

How are you going with the Tamrom 90mm macro lens?

It's very nice! The weather has been less than great down here though and I've found it difficult to get enough light onto the subject.. despite my fear of them, I took a few little shots of a spider that was running around outside the front of our house..

Thanks for the kind words.
The 500d doesn't eat light like a TC does, so the light loss isn't very large. I've been running at various high ISOs to try to even out the lighting in the background. I can't make that work at the small apertures I use, so I'll probably drop back to 200 or maybe 400 to help conserve a little battery life in the flash.
