Sunday Quad Action

A couple mates of mine have some pretty sweet "quad bikes" ... not your every day farm bike variety but race bred and excruciatingly fast, fun, agile little machines.

The photos dont really show it, and the aerial antics are my friends, not i, but did a bit of touring along the beach and dune tracks in addition to the big bowl that we normally visit, eerie weather, great views from tops of hills, and with the girly on the back it was quite a stunning afternoon. Gotta love Oz, aye, cob.

It is a shame to see the Alkimos ship wreck just offshore, almost completely fallen.

anyhoo, a few snaps I took of the other lads. Shame i didnt take the camera with me when i took off up the beach / tracks.

lol spartikus .. not really .. but got the call on saturday night when i was out with mates, so we toodled up sunday about midday for a few hours.

Settling on a new house next week, so that will be consuming a bit of time, though im off skiing mid august to Victoria (mt hotham) so i'll be there'll be a few million pics from there no doubt.

big pix : yeah fair bit of sand, grit, dust, crap ... ive given up with trying to keep her clean ... but it seems to stand up to it ... never ever change lenses while out and about in those environs though. The d70 seems pretty weather resistant which is a testament to its quality.

This album : http://darb.net/lano-wedge-04 we had ridiculous winds, camping in dunes, touring through friggin hot dusty pain in the backside conditions for some of the time (we resorted to a few trusty drinks to make it all seem OK.) ... only noticed a bit of sand / dust getting into the battery / CF slot, but not much. (and its to be expected.)

Have only had it dust cleaned once .. and that was ages ago, since then ive been ultra careful ... havent tried any really narrow aperture shots recently to chekc for dust bunnies mind you.

Sat on ISO400 due to the cloud, Amode, F7.1 (my tamron gets soft wide open ... id rather a bit of noise and maintain sharpness, then get softness regardless of shutter speed.)

have cracked 10,000 shots in about 9 months which isnt bad going, i just hope the shutter doesnt give out on me :(

Cool shots, Brad. The stop action is great, especially considering the lower light levels that appear to be present in some of them. :D
