D70 + Kit + SB-80DX + LSII
First some self crit: I should have framed in more of the stem and perhaps the base...
What do you think?

and yes... you can see a lot of me... actually... Looking at it, it was not the kit, rather the 50/1.4

Scott, I fear that the highlights in the glasses are overexposed which detracts from the image.
However, I love wineglasses for what they do.

Hi Scott
I think the reflections off the glasses are the most interesting part of the image, perhaps crop right in so you get a dynamic abstracted image.

Doesn't work for me I'm afraid. The blown highlights really dominate the image. When you have the next go at this (you will be won't you?) I think a more OOF background would work too.
Just a thought - put some wine in the glasses and that would probably reduce the blown highlights too (you could even expereiment with different colours of wine)

I'm with Stubbsy. A little wine in at least one of the glasses, or a white in one and a red in the other, a little more stem and perhaps a little less ceiling.

For a minute there, i thought we were getting an invite ot a wine party
I am with the others on this. Composition is good, the self portrait is interesting and the blown highlights detract.
You could also try different shaped glasses, be sure to empty the contents when finished photographing them.
Great attempt

Agree with everyone on the blown highlights but composition is good.
