First bird picCaptured today at Taronga Zoo.
Nice capture Vince, but I suspect that the sunlight was against you in this one...
I would have personally liked to see more detail under the other wing... You could try using Shadows & Highlights within PS to improve that... How far away from the bird were you? If close, then fill flash may have helped to even out the lighting... Cheers, John

Interesting Vince. What does the bird have in it's beak?

Considering the harsh lighting and no way to control it, I think this is a great capture.
I can -NEVER- get these outside shots in this type of lighting to look good at all. Whenever I try a fill flash the result always looks very unnatural to me. Very well done. D70, 18-70 DX, Sigma 70-300 APOII, Nikkor 50mm 1.4D, SB800, Bogen 3046 w/Manfrotto 322RC2 ballhead, Lowepro Nova 2 AW
Not a bad gala vince as said dark wing but yeh we dont always have thing right for some shots. But still a good pic.

If the subject was close I would have used fill flash aswell. Nicole and I pretty much shoot with the flash permanently attached so we can always use it. I usually regret the times that I don't have it attached as I find the lighting never is balanced.
