Nobody's replied here so I'll give it a go, but I'm by no means an expert!
To me the focus seems soft across the image, and in addition could have used a deeper DOF (the closer feathers look more OOF than their heads). Typically in these shots with an OOF background, I like to see everything in the foreground sharp.
The background frames them well, but a slightly less tighter crop may look even better. You could try bringing up the saturation in the foreground a bit too. Might make the red in their faces pop more.

i think that the scene was a good moment but i reckon that it was composted too tightly, almost like a fighting match or a conflict.
we don't know who the main subject is, both are cut off and focused very closly towards their heads.
o i think maybe a bit more dof, and another shot of them occuping 1/2 of your pic with the rule of thirds to help with spacing?

Birdies, well if it is cropped maybe a bit tight but as i have tried to get sime shots of sim type of birds and they move around a bit is not always easy, but nice looking and being black doesn't help but yeh captured well.
