Water tour thru the Otways

G'day,
Just got home today from bush-walking, checking out waterfalls and other incredible places through the Otways over the last few days on a workshop tour with Tom Putt photography. I'm not connected with them in any way but I can't recommend these tours enough...

Anyway, few days of waterfalls, bush-walking, some 4wd'ing and river crossing using rope etc. it was a blast, I'm buggered, I've just converted a couple a s%&$#load of NEFs to PSD's and just did a couple of quickies converted to JPEG for you to share...

These are basically straight out of the cam, almost no PP, no PS stuff other than basic resize etc, so lotsa work to do yet, but had to post something before I crash and have an early night... Not the best examples here just quickies...

Ive been meaning to go spend some time in the Otways for years now but just havent gotten around to doing so yet. I quite often go for a drive down to Apollo Bay and back but just never make it that little be more down the road.

Looks like you got some great shots there and after a bit of PP they should come up a treat.

Hi mudder. Lucky you! It is a beutiful place. I have spent many a day exploring the Otways with friends. Some lovely little trout in some of the coastal rivers.

OK - to the shots

1. Nice effect, but the image is noisy. These mossy rocks have a lot of potential though.
2. I like the saturation in the foreground and the effect with the waterfall, but the rest of the background doesnt work for me. Is it overexposed?
3. Bit dull? Foreground could be sharper and more saturated. Would be interesting to see it with a more blurred background or with a sharper background.
4. I like this one the most. The dripping plant works well with that background.
5. My second favorite. Nice serene place. Reflection, interesting and complimentary foreground.
6. Those trees in the BG have a lot of potential but the foreground doesnt work for me. Have you considered a tighter crop starting just to the left of the emerging tree in the upper left? Maybe a little more saturation too.

Great shots - I love the effects of running water under long exposures - overall however, I reckon a bit of general saturation and a play around with the shadow/hilights tool would make a big difference to bring out the moss etc. Nice work.

I like the photo of the clouds best, but #1, #2 & 3 are great too...

Andrew. I'll hold back my full comments for when you get these pp'd properly, but I had to post to say the 4th image is great - more so because of the simplicity of the subject - and the colour shadings are (to quote rokkstar) sublime. I can't wait to see the finished images from your foray into the wilds.
