O.K. Here I go, I have been a member for about 6 months, I have posted a few times but no pictures.

This photo was taken at Brisbane Water about 2 months ago, just downstream of the Spit Bridge at about 9.00am.

Mate, I really like this! Even though the boat is a tad off centre, I think it works well with the shot, and the dull colours actually suit the shot as well, no need for saturation anything like that! Keep this up!

Nothing is washed out, everything on the boat is in focus. The refelection is even in focus! That's a very hard shot to get. PLEASE post more!

Chris, it is slightly of centre I hadn't noticed, I dont think it hurts to much maybe better if the extra space was in front of the boat.

Deb, it was a great morning for photography, we were going up for a kids party in the PM so decided to leave early to get some shots of sunrise, birds and mist on the water, sunrise lasted about 1.5min and was nothing at all, no pelicans and no mist so we drove around and were lucky with some other locations.

Nito & Wade, thanks for your comments, it was one of those perfectly still mornings and I was just lucky, in hindsight I should have taken more shots from different angles, I have a couple of others that I will post later.

I like it, reflection, sharpness everything. Though I would like to see the horizon with the couple of ducks flying past

Water colour seemed a bit dull though, I had the same colour in my beach photos. Guess Photoshop could fix that? Would love it in deep blue.

Excellent first post. A tranquil image that has lots of of the essential elements.....contrast, composition, muted colour and texture. If the boat is in your locality and still there try some images at sunset etc. It's a very good subject.

Only involvment from me was to teach Rick how to convert to JPEG and upload the image..

Great image. I like the composition. Rule of thirds certainly does it for me here.

..... great shot and a great fishing spot..... for me I would like to see a bit more water around the boat if possible and then set the boat off centre with a bit of brightness to the shot.... and as stated the image is also fine as is.....

I know I have not been on for ages... I actually havn't even taken a photo with my camera for almost 2 months. Too busy with Kids and a new job.

Nit picking could suggest to get rid of "stuff" (twigs ?) in the water, but hey

Rick - I have read all of the posts and I must say first up that I like your shot. But, unlike the others I would like to see some mystery in the shot and by actually softening the whole image you would create a whole new perspective. In my mind I see this image within a swirling fog. A Marie Celeste of rowing boats

Thanks for everyone's comments, I got a lot more response from my post than I expected.

To answer your questions, no I didn't crop it, I used 24-120 D lens, 1/1000th second @ F5.6 manual using nikon capture I added +0.17 exp comp, high contrast & small amount unsharp mask.

Hi Rick - others have already said it, but I'm gonna join in - nice pic, especially as a first up

The stillness of the water is what makes this image - that reflection really is amazing.

I do look at the pic, however, and want to know more - perhaps a little more behind the boat, with a horizon, would help set the scene. I like the idea of a bit of fog added - but this would be 'adding stuff that's not there' (which some don't like - they say it's not really photography!).

Repeating others (again), if this is your first image, looking forward to seeing more
