Challenge 5 - my rejects

Thought I'd share a couple of shots taken originally to enter into Challenge 5, but I wasn't confident enough in them so they were put on the back-burner....obviously, these were also "set-up"

I would be interested to hear what people think of these 2 pics:

I look forward to hearing your comments :)

I also thought it interesting that both these "themes" were submitted by other people as well...which made me laugh. I was also going to do something with dominos and a similar idea to the bird swooping for it's prey (except I was going to use a snake and a rat).

I really like these because they don't appear overtly set-up. I think they are really good.

Does everyone think that this is what the intended theme should have brought?

Number one looks really natural, but for me #2 looks contrived. SO far as decisive moments - yes #2 is, but for me #1 is not. #1 would be decisive if the guy was about to run into something because he's looking at her! BTW _ you have some very obliging friends given the modelling duties.

Second shot looks like really decisive moment :) If I'd managed to take similar photo I'd put it to the competition

Great pics Dave - but I reiterate my earlier posts re Bresson setting up many of his shots too!

#1 has, IMO, more of a dm about it than #2, and yet #2 is more in-line with the concept within the minds eye :D

Hi Stubbsy
obviously, the branch on the running track, in front of the guy, does not stand out enough ??
