Road to nowhere

Still on the constant persuit of limited DOF, plus I was doing my best to get a bit more creative following last weeks POTW. Hence I found myself going for a little walk at 8pm in the dark.

Shot on 30s exposure, f4.5 with kit lens. I think I may have overcooked the DOF on this one a little but I would be eager to hear peoples comments.

p.s. Again please excuse the crappy image but artifacts are from hosting site. The original is 1000% sharper!

G'day,
Love it Ed. Only things that distract me are the highlight coloured shape in the far left pink and yellow) and the shadow on the bottom right, but love all the lines converging and the focus somewhere on the rubble etc... Very creative, but wonder if it could be distinctly sharper on say one stone or something maybe?

Great image...

The shadow is the remnants of me leaving the scene after leaving my camera in the middle of the road, maybe a little bit of PP could get rid of that one.

I totally agree with you on the pink bit, maybe a little bit of creative cropping could remove the offending splodge.

Finally as I was walking back looking at the shot I was thinking the same this as you about the focusing on the stone. Maybe I will go back tomorrow and try and repeat the exercise.

G'day,
The "pink bit" you could clone out, and maybe you could apply some "selective sharpening" on the individual stone and a touch of highlight to make that specific stone stand out...

PP is fun :)

My PP is pretty limited to say the very least. It might take me a week or so to get my head around those tasks.

... hey its worth a go though

Cool shot Ed - I actually cropped the shot just below the 'pink bit', and then the eye is drawn directly to the stone. Just my view though.

You know I really like the look of this one.

I think there are elements that could be improved (eg pink distracting bit as others have said) but on the whole I think it is a very original short which I think that DOF actually enhanses if anything.

Good stuff.

Cheers eveyone, your thoughts have really improved an image beyond what I thought was good.

Hey I think this is what they call learning

Hey Mr. Neeves... I like the concept and the shot you captured... You must be a very brave person to leave a D70 in the gutter like that...

Just as another variation, here is my crop of your shot...

Very interesting image. It would not have worked without that dark blob that you have focussed on. One small spot and it the image comes to life. Amazing thing, photography.
