I took my brand new 80-400VR Nikkor (Thanks Birddog!) to the Adelaide Zoo today. I'm very happy with this lens.

The little kitties came up nice and sharp.

I was nearly going to post this blue sealion in the "ES August: BLUE" message thread, but I don't think she is blue enough.

(I also cannot beleve you can do 400mm at 1/60s and still have it sharp. I like VR :D )

I thought on its collar was a radio tracker, but obviously it's some form of please machine...

Awesome! :D
The Zoo here in Perth is one of my favourite places for pics, and judging the results, though with the 300G none of mine have the "crispy" quality of yours!

...oh well, fingers crossed for this years tax return..."please Mr Costello! I promise I will be good"

Well done and enjoy your new addition.

Cheers

Very nice. Number 2 in particular is a beauty.

Daniel - I always look on a new lens as like a new car - you have to get used to it before getting great results - you have proven me wrong :D

I took my 70-300G to Adelaide Zoo when I first bought that (pics) and had a great time, but it was always just a little bit soft.

The 80-400VR is great :D. It really is worth 8 times more than the 70-300G. :)

Thanks

Daniel

It really is a good place to try out some stuff. You can easily spend hours there.
Try and get along to the feedings. It's very impressive when they feed the Lions (but not easy to photograph  )

I like the Blue and Gold Macaw freeflight display.

But it is very hard to get shots of them in flight. They're so fast as they skim overhead.

Thanks

Daniel

Thank you all, for the feedback.

I only hope this new investment will delay the next on set of lens lust for a while... :D
