Hi All,

Here is an upclose shot of a strawberry that I took a little while ago (point & shoot camera). If anyone has any suggestions for improvement, particularly with Photoshop, I would muchly appreciate it. :D Photoshop to this point is cropping, a bit of colour correction and a slight increase in contrast.

Cheers,
K

G'day K,
The Photoshop and product shoot guru's will come along later, but the first things that come to my eye, are the shadow below the fruit and the bright areas along the top of the fruit which distract my attention away from the subject...

Not sure about the highlights on the fruit itself, Sirhc might be able to give some tips there, might be worth trying some USM on the fruit too...

Cheers.

not bad for a p&s eh! as with Mudder, I feel there are more educated and equipped people on this forum to comment on your PS technque. What I can say though, is the pic makes me want one - lucky there's no cream on it, as I'd probably be licking the screen right now instead of typing this!

I like the creamy colour of the plate (?) it's on, and the contrast and colour of the strawberry itself are just right to me. The shadows could do with some work (but that will no doubt be discussed by someone else shortly).

I seriously do want to go and find one to eat right now - so I guess the pic did it's job :)

Thanks for the feedback guys. :D

Sheepie - the hardest part of this was finding decent strawberries to photograph, and then stopping myself from eating them all before I was done

What type of lighting was used?

Very bright kitchen lights  I have 3 very bright lights that run on a small track on my kitchen ceiling. I sat the strawberry on a white plate, on the floor under the lights - I had my camera propped up on a small box, level with the strawberry (I really really have difficulty holding my camera still, so I usually have something to lean it on  ).
I did take a couple of shots with the flash but the strawberry was waaaaay too shiny.
I will photoshop the image some more when I get the chance - and post an improved version for comment. (Right now I'm too busy watching NASA television :D :D :D )
