Melting Icicle

It sure was cold.

Image

I put the d70 into continuous mode and just held the button down for about 30 seconds hoping to get a water droplet in midair as this icicle melted.
When I looked at the shots back home, this was the first of the sequence of about 50 or 60 , and the best.
What a waste of film.

Matt and Glen, thanks for your comments.

I'm not happy with the shot (or the PP actually). Not sure what to do about it though. In your opinions, how can I make it better? The icicle and drop are sharp and the background is nicely out of focus, but it still doesn't leap out and grab you. Is it a contrast issue or the big slab of stone on the left?

I think it is the slab of stone. When I covered it up I found the image much more appealing. It's a nice capture though.

Rotating the image 90ยบ CCW might lend a different dimension and make the dark mass a more relevant elemement.
