That's a way better pic than the one I saw on your web site a while back. Mind if I add it to the DSLRUsers mug shot gallery?

To get the camera to work remotely:
1. Put your camera in COmmander Mode
2. Put your flash in remote mode Group 3 device A
3. Pop up the on-camera flash
4. Shoot
5. Shoot more
6. Enjoy

And Geoff, it was taken with the poor mans 70-200VR - the Sigma 70-200 which IMO is the equal of the VR if you don’t have delirium tremors     - and it’s less than half the price 8)

That's a decent shot. Did you figure out how to get it in TTL BL mode? You should just be able to hit the mode button until it pops into it. You may have to make sure your d70 is in TTL mode, not commander mode, and make sure the sb800 is is normal mode, and not have remote or any other special feature turned on.

Oh...btw...I look like I do in my avatar :D

Deapee, No i haven't it goes into TTL that is it and i do see a flicker if i switch camera off and turn on i see then it goes. I have pushed the mode buttun cycled through them all and still wont come up with TTL BL allthough i have been using this that way since i have had it but not a real flash lover but just trying to understand it a bit better. I have not got it to fire off camera so thats cool.

John,

I'm surprised that nobody has been able to tell you exactly what the problem is; it's really quite obvious from that picture.

You've been sold a counterfeit SB-800. You can tell that it's a fake because the Nikon sticker is backwards. :)

Gary, im afraid i would have to blame Birdy then for this 1. yeh not much bloody good at focussing either. LOL D70 for ya. Hell i better trade it in for a Canon, there focussing might be faster as i am sure i have broken something while taking that picture.

John,

Make sure the flash is on the camera, make sure the camera is set to TTL (Number 19 in the CSM menu).

Try the camera on Aperture priority too.

See how that goes (I notice that you can't get BL when the flash is off camera)

cheers

Also John, TTL BL requires matrix metering. If you're in spot or CAW metering modes, BL will be unengageable. Also won't work if the Digital Vari-Program is set to Manual.
