I like #1, but can't say why. Did you add an effect, or was it raining?

#2 I'm not that keen on.

#3 is very nice. I'd crop off the empty sky at the top.

deapee - love the shots, glad to see its not only sunny olde englade that getting the rain.

love #3 but too much sky for me - just wondered if it possible to retake with either less sky or a slight zoom in so the river runs diagonally through the shot - for me i think it would be a nice juxtaposition of the quiet river versus the busy (ie brightly lit) city?

There is definately something about number one that makes you stare at it....but like DanielA.....I can't work out why.
I'm afraid number two doesn't grab my attention quite as much.
My initial impression of the Pittsburgh shot was that cropping some of the sky would improve the shot, but I have changed my mind. The colour transition through the sky, subtle as it is, helps the photo. Just by crolling down the screen to get a cropped effect, I felt the photo lost some of its depth by removing the sky. IMHO - leave it as it is. I really like it.

As far as composition on numero 3, the city shot, I was out on a lookout and it's all trees from about a foot out of the frame on down...and if I zoom in, I feel I loose something because I'll lose the part of the river that is in the lower part of the frame...There are different vantage points I will consider looking at in the future...or maybe when the trees die heh.

deapee - #1 & 2 are really sombre and I like very much the effect, and if I had to pick a fav, it would be #2

I like all three shots and definitely wouldn't alter #3 for reasons already stated - it loses scale when cropped.

I like #1 because there's action in it to give some sense of movement. For me #2 loses out as a result of zero action and a tilt that's not quite enough to be arty.

Really like the mood you've captured in the first two well done, the first grabs my attention more, in the second I'd be tempted to clone out the moon(?) and just leave the sky blank... Nice and moody... Although I keep leaning over a bit when viewing the second one

I agree with the others about cropping a "bit off the top" in the skyline shot, that'd make a good pano...
