At the Beach

Taken today near Double ISland Point using the Tamron 70-300 at 300mm 1/640s at F6

Beautiful birds.

nice one Mark. Is that a crop or full-frame out of the D70 ?

Must have had some good light shooting @ 1/640sec @ 300mm :)
obviously the blue sky gives it away.....doesn't it :roll:

Thanks Dave.

Bumped up a stop to counter the strong backlight and cropped about 1/4 of the original image.

I have since found out it is called a Brahminy Kite, just out of interest.

Gee, the lighting looks terrific... Hard to get the underside so detailed, well done...

Thanks for the comments. I think the time of day had a lot to do with getting the light under the bird. Relatively early (around 9:00 AM) so the sun was still down low over the ocean. Could also have been a lot of light reflecting back up from the water and sand.
I am pretty happy with the result as so many of these type of shots end up very dark underneath.
