MVA Deception Bay (dialup warning)Afternoon all...
QFRS 527a was turned out at approximately 1315 to a two car MVA on the corner of Deception Bay Rd and Tallowwood Drive, Deception Bay. One occupant was taken to hospital with neck injuries. Once again the drivers were very lucky. Comments and critique more than welcome... cheers and stay safe.... http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
Great shots as usual.. The last shot is compelling.. it shows that someone wasn't so lucky at some point in time in that same location. Almost haunting.

thanks gleff....
with that last shot i have blurred it intentionally in post processing to try and give the 'haunted' feeling that you commented on.... also some very obvious dodge and burn... cheers http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
very.... unfortunately when i was taking that shot i had better ideas in my head on how i thought it would turn out... but in this case i blew my original idea... cheers http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
Mark,
The final image says it all. Well done. When did you get a new camera? What's the upshot from the dramas of a week ago? g.

thanks gary... not a new camera... using my second (backup) body atm until i get a replacement one back. Look forward to the new one. i ended up not making a complaint about the assault... couldn't see the point considering it was an emotional scene and a little bit of bruising never hurt anyone. insurance company is pursuing the matter however in regards to my camera body.... have to admit that i was a little 'wary' shooting at this one... had a really good look around when i first arrived to try and get a gut feeling of how people were reacting.... cheers http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.

fantastic series of pj photos. the last image is amazing! I take it that this stretch of road is prone to accients, and that the flowers are results from previous incident? [every man's work is always a portrait of himself.

thanks Scott... imho I don't think so because if you take the other shots away and the description, the pic doesn't quite sell itself.... i.e. what is all that white stuff in the frame? you only associate it with a car due to the other pics... cheers http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
thanks genji... i've been to a few accidents in and around that stretch.... don't know of how 'serious' it's history is apart from obvious incident marked with the two crosses and the flowers. It hasn't been listed as a black spot and visibility is pretty good there apart from late in the afternoon when you are driving into the sun. cheers http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
Mark, Understood. I don't know whether I would have been so accommodating, but I hear what you're saying, and fully support your decision. g.

Humble as always...
I must disagree.. The foreground is clearly recognisable as a crumpled car... and the flowers and cross are such a common sight on some Australian roads that you can clearly see the message of irresponsible driving will only lead to death... and I like the dark areas around... makes it dreamlike or that proverbial tunnel with a light that many who have a near death experience describe (has to do with circulation aparently) I was discussing with Louise on the way back from the snow (want to see some bad driving, try the Monaro Hwy) that I believe irresponsible driving is worse than terrorism... Both kill innocents, but at least terrorism has a reason... *dismounts soapbox* New page

Mark, that last image is just I'm not sure what you wanted the outcome to be but if you thought the final image wasn't that great, I think you're too tough on yourself.
Def. POTW for me in terms of the image and the story of the image. Very prophetic or poetic, or both? Good stuff and good to hear that you'll be getting a replacement soon..well soon-ish Hassy, Leica, Nikon, iPhone
Come follow the rabbit hole...
i do like the image... just had a different 'picture' in my mind compared to how it turned out... and yeh... "soon'ish" .... it's insurance cheers http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
