Been chasing some bees recently, managed to get a couple of them in flight be slightly out of focus

All taken with my Sigma 105 and using my SB800, still in my early stages of using this flash, but improving.

Bees are a difficult subject since they work best when you can see the detail of their body as well as their wings. Problem (as you know) is the wings are either flapping too fast or not catching the light.

You've succeeded in a few of these shots and they are the standouts for me. Shots 5 & 6 here are good examples I also like image 6608 for it's different perspective on the wings. Shot 9 here is probably the best though since there's a hint of wing, nicely blurry for motion, but still discernable and a good sharp focus on both the body and the flower.
