G'day all,
Called in at he Zoo early this morning hpoing for soft light (was very dull) and no other people, wanting to see the big cats... Beautiful creatures...

All these are high ISO, 400 - 800 used during the shots. very dull but soft light, 80-400VR Apert Pri around F8. Please let me know if these are too big (pixel dim's) etc...

Aren't these such majestic creatures...

This next one was almost hidden in the shadows, but managed to bring out some detail at the cost of noise etc...

The odd couple, it just seems strange the two strains of a breed being together...

Hi Andrew,

I love first two portraits - they are great.
At 3rd, foreground tree distracting me form the subject. 4th one - great capture. I might just crop it tighter and might use bit more DOF

Great captures, Andrew! I like them all, but the last one is my favourite.

Good shots for what sounds like fairly trying conditions, light-wise.

I like the last two the best and the third is an awesome pose. Its just a bit of a pity about the tree in the foreground on the left (I know, trying to get around and avoid that stuff is hard at times) and also that you chopped poor kitty's ear off.

Andrew I love #1, #2, #3 (even if the OOF branch on the left is a bit distracting).

#4 while it makes for interesting viewing seeing a standard leopard and black/melanistic leopard (aka black panther) together, the black panther is slightly soft and the reflections in the eye on the right put me off of it.

I'd also crank up the saturation a bit to make the oranges in the tiger/leopards pop out.

Shot 2 is my favourite out of these, every time I see photo's like this I want to rush off to the Zoo. I agree shot 3 would be better with out the OOF branch, but I just love the expression on the Tiger in that shot, it really looks human.

Fantastic Andrew, #2 my favourite! Those cats are beautiful, as is the 80-400 which I now own!

Nice pics! #2 is great, but I especially like #4, because the black panther is one of my favourite animals.

Hi Andrew, great pics of the Tiger and as for the last one it almost makes you believe you can reach out and give them a pat or a scratch behind the ear, only problem is you wouldn't get your arm back,!
I have been to the Zoo many many times and it is one of my favorite places for a day's photography, each visit is a challenge, as one usually battles low light, very dark shadows, animals that don't behave by not placing themselves in the position you want them in,
Which when all taken into account makes me realise how good your pics really are ! well done indeed
