I'm a pretty clinical, technical sorta photog, but there is something magic about this shot for me. I'd be interested in whether it works for others or whether maybe it's time to change my meds

The shot was taken at Phuoc Hue monastery on Ullambana day using my 70-200VR lens on a fairly long exposure. The young girl was waiting in the wings before going on stage to perform. This also shows my great hand holding technique

Mate, are you becoming the new Leigh? Just because you won PotW with an out of focus shot lets not go crazy It does work for me, but would I prefer to see the young girls impish grin more clearly, probably. I am left wanting to see more, maybe that is good, maybe not

Yep, not without some charm, but I would prefer something in focus in this shot.

I reckon if it was merely a soft focus shot (there's that wording again!) it'd be great but because it was your hand wobbling then it spoils an otherwise interesting shot.

That said... I did some shots on the weekend of the kids playing in Lollypops in Castle Hill (NW Sydney for interstaters) and the shots of the kids moving around in one of those tea-cup rides with movement blur were some of the best due to the expressions on the faces of the kids.

Wow, I like it, Peter. Can't explain why, but I do. The range of colours and mystique of the woman's and girl's faces do it for me. Nice one.
