I have been playing around with my D50 in the garden during the last few days. This little Noisy Minor decided to pose for me.
The Minor's already have two baby birds that hatched recently. :)

Taken with the 18-70mm lens. Any tips on taking bird pics are most welcome.

I am not a birdy type person but looks pretty damn good to me coming from the kit lens. I think this a great shot and nice and sharp.
Well done OG.

Nice shot of what I imagine is a difficult subject (I'm not a birder so I don't really know).
Slight bit of motion blur and sharpening haloes but the eye is sharp enough.
There are plenty of talented bird photogs here so i'm sure they can offer some advice.

I'd post a photo of a noisy minor of my own, but there have been a few objections to photos of one's progeny here. :P

Thanks for the comments guys!

With regards to the haloes, they seemed to be only visible after i did a 'save as' in PS. I guess i will have to either set the image to max quality when saving, or reduce the USM a little (wasn't much applied anyway), to avoid it.

Wow you got close to him if that's a full frame image.

Perhaps a touch oversharpened (edge of the bird) but otherwise a great shot.
