Something different..I'm not sure about these - I've been trying to shoot some different subject matter other than flowers and landscapes for once Love some tups from the more artistic types out there Chris

Well this is my first view and I like the use of small DOF on the first photo, i would however suggest to slightly increase the aperture to keep the screw and some foreground carpet in focus, to increase the interest of the audience. The B&W treatment draws attention to the texture of the wood and is well suited to this photo. I would consider burning the bright(er) posts in the background as they are a little distracting and reduce the focus and flow of your capture. Good to see you expanding your subject matter.
Unfortunately the second image doesn't appeal to me, although the concept is commendable i think the subject matter doesn't justify (IMO) the framing. I think this shot would work if the TV was replaced by a person reading or the like, this would give the image the feel of a voyeurs perspective and the audience may find it more engaging. Michael

Spartikus - Its always good to see something different.
The first shot has merit as it is an interesting structure, but im struggling to find anything positive about the second. Not my cup of tea. Steve (Nikon D200/D700)

I agree that the first one has potential (I found the rails in the background a little distracting too).
My suggestion with the second, would be use a clean mirror, looks like there are marks on the mirror (I hope, and not your lens) that were unappealing. ... Sorry I can't be more constructive with the second one.
abstract shotsI am a big fan of abstract shots.
I like number 1 it does create interest and leads you downstairs wondering what lies beneath, you could play with some layers and abstract type overlaid for a bit of a horror film/ad look, shot two makes me think of aphex twin video clip "come to daddy" pretty evil clip but I like the creative abstract stuff. I think all things have a purpose, its just finding where it fits, if we dont experiment and stretch ourselves we will never grow. Keep up the good work, C
